Privacy policy.

Plain language, no lawyer-speak where I can avoid it. This explains exactly what I collect when you use this site or join a waitlist, why I collect it, who else touches it, and how to make me delete it.

Who I am

This site is operated by Unleashed Labs Inc., registered at 243 Rue Migneron, Saint-Laurent, Quebec, Canada, trading as Fer Patel and FerPatel.com. That entity is the one responsible for the personal information described here.

What I collect

When you join a waitlist

If you fill in a waitlist form, for example on the free training page, I collect:

  • Your first name and your email address. You type these in yourself. Nothing else is required.
  • Your answers to the optional survey, if you choose to answer it. That is the five-question step shown after you join: what best describes you, how much time you have per week, your experience level, how comfortable you are with technology, and when you could attend a live training. Every question is skippable, and skipping does not affect your place on the list.
  • Which form you used (the top of the page, the bottom of the page, or the pop-up), the page you submitted from, and the date and time you submitted.
  • Your IP address and browser user-agent string, captured automatically by the server that receives the form. These are used to block automated spam submissions and are stored alongside your record.

When you just browse

This site uses Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages get read. That involves cookies and collects things like your approximate location, device, browser, and the pages you viewed. It is used in aggregate. I am looking at whether a page works, not at you specifically. You can block it with any standard ad or tracker blocker, and the site will work exactly the same.

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server access logs.

I do not collect payment information anywhere on this site, because nothing here is for sale. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Why I collect it, and what I do with it

  • To tell you when the training opens. That is the entire point of the waitlist. When there is a date, you get an email.
  • To tailor the training to the people who actually signed up. The optional survey answers tell me the mix of experience levels, available hours, and time zones in the room, so I can pitch the material and schedule the sessions accordingly.
  • To send you related emails: updates on the training, occasional useful material on the same subject, and announcements of things I am building. If you only want the waitlist announcement and nothing else, say so and that is what you will get.
  • To keep bots out of the list, using the IP address and user-agent described above.

I do not sell your information. I do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers. I do not share it with other people running training programs.

Who else handles it

I use a small number of service providers to actually run this. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job:

  • HighLevel (LeadConnector): the CRM and email platform that stores your name, email, and survey answers, and sends the emails you receive from me. HighLevel is a US company and your information is stored on its servers.
  • Vercel: hosts this website and runs the small server function that receives your form submission and passes it on.
  • Supabase, the database where I keep my own record of every waitlist signup: your first name, email address, any survey answers, and the IP address and browser details described above. I keep this so the list is mine and does not depend on any one email provider. Supabase is a US company.
  • Resend: sends the confirmation email you get immediately after joining the waitlist, from mail.ferpatel.com. It receives your email address and first name. Resend is a US company.
  • Slack: when you join the waitlist, a notification containing your first name, email address, and any survey answers is posted to a private internal channel so I see new signups as they arrive. Only I and anyone helping me run the training can see it.
  • Google (Tag Manager and Analytics): website analytics, as described above.

Because these providers are based in the United States, your personal information is stored and processed outside Canada, and may be accessible to US authorities under the laws that apply there. By joining a waitlist you accept that transfer.

Consent, and how to withdraw it

When you type your name and email into a waitlist form and press the button, you are giving me express consent to email you about the training and related material. That is the legal basis I rely on under Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL). I do not add people to my list any other way: no scraped addresses, no purchased lists, no adding you because we exchanged business cards.

Every email I send identifies who it is from and includes a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes one click and I action it immediately, and in any case within 10 business days as CASL requires. You can also just reply to any email, or write to hello@wizardsofsocial.com, and ask to be removed.

Your rights

Under Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and Quebec's provincial privacy law, you can ask me to:

  • Tell you what I hold about you, and where it came from.
  • Correct anything that is wrong.
  • Delete your record entirely. Ask, and it is gone from the CRM as well as the list.
  • Send you your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, for any reason, without explaining yourself.

Email hello@wizardsofsocial.com and I will respond within 30 days. There is no fee. If you are not satisfied with how I handled it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

How long I keep it

I keep waitlist records for as long as you stay subscribed, plus a reasonable period afterwards so that an unsubscribe stays honoured and you do not get re-added by accident. If you ask for deletion, I delete the record rather than just marking it inactive. Anti-spam data (IP and user-agent) is kept with the record and goes when the record goes.

Security

Form submissions travel over HTTPS. The address of the system that receives them is held server-side and is never exposed in the page, so it cannot be scraped and flooded. Access to the CRM is limited to me and anyone I need to help me run the training. No system is perfect, and I am not going to claim otherwise. But I am not storing anything sensitive here in the first place. It is a first name and an email address.

Changes to this policy

If I change how any of this works, I will update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. If the change is significant (a new processor, a new purpose), I will say so in an email rather than quietly editing the page.
